Sustainability
Building a better future for our planet
Our Sustainability Journey
At Clada, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s at the core of everything we do. From our production processes to our packaging choices, we’re committed to making environmentally responsible decisions that protect our planet for future generations.
Our journey toward sustainability is ongoing, with continuous improvements and innovations that reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining the exceptional quality of our products.
Key Sustainability Initiatives
100% Recycled Bottles
Every single bottle we produce is 100% recyclable, contributing to a circular economy.
Tethered Closures
All our products come with tethered closures to ensure bottle caps are recycled along with the bottles.
Re-turn Scheme
We’re a founding member of Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme, promoting recycling nationwide.
Think Local
We produce locally to reduce carbon footprint and support the Irish economy.
BRC Global Standard
The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is crucial to the establishment and operation of an effective food safety and quality operation. Clada was the 1st bottling company to obtain the BRC standard in Ireland and it is embedded at the heart of our everyday operations to ensure the production of a safe, quality product with legislative compliance and protection for all of our customers.
Clada is BRC Global Standard AA+ certified
Legislative Compliance
Clada ensures continued legislative compliance by carrying out its activities in accordance with the EU (Natural Mineral Waters, Spring Waters and other Waters in Bottles or containers) Regulations 2016 i.e. S.I. 282 of 2016.
Fully compliant with all relevant EU and Irish regulations for bottled water
COMMITTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Every drop of Galway Water reflects our dedication to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.
Tethered Closures
It has been estimated that plastic bottle tops account for 15% of plastic litter found on European beaches. The EU’s Single-Use (SUP) Plastic Directive includes a provision to ensure they are recycled by tethering the closure to the rest of the bottle.
In compliance with the directive, from July 2024 all Clada products come with tethered closures.
Our tethered closures ensure caps stay attached to bottles, reducing plastic pollution
Re-turn – Deposit Return Scheme
Clada has been a founding member of Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme, ReTurn. ReTurn is a circular economy initiative, designed to protect our environment, reduce litter and waste and maximising existing resources.
By reusing and recycling more effectively, we can save energy, water, and reduce landfills – all of which guarantees a lower impact on our planet
Repak Membership
Repak is Ireland’s leading not for profit environmental organisation which is committed to the recycling and sustainability of Ireland’s packaging waste. As members, Clada fund household recycling bins, bottle banks and recycling centres nationwide helping Ireland achieve its recycling targets and protecting our environment.
Think Local
Reduced Carbon Footprint
By producing and distributing beverages locally, we’re reducing transportation emissions and our overall carbon footprint.
Local Employment
We’re proud to generate local employment opportunities and support the communities where we operate.
Irish Economy
Choosing Irish products supports our local economy and helps build a sustainable future for Ireland.
