Clada Mineral Water Company Limited opened on Friday 13th 1962 at its original premises in Waterlane, Bohermore. Unlucky for some, the Friday 13th opening proved very lucky for brothers Michael, Tom, and Paul Owens from Menlough, Ballinasloe, who established the company. At the time, there were five other bottling companies in Galway city, but today Clada Mineral Water Co. Ltd. is the sole bottling company in the west of Ireland.
A move to the 90,000 sq.ft. production and distribution facility on the Headford Road in the mid 70's,where the company is currently based, also proved lucky. There are four springs naturally occurring on site and given the limestone nature of the locality, all wells sunk produce a spring water with a refreshingly high calcium content.
Clada Mineral Water Company Limited provides contract
bottling services to a variety of domestic brand holders
in addition to the manufacture of our own label soft
drinks and spring water.
Galway Irish Spring Water is manufactured exclusively
at source by Clada Mineral Water Company Limited. Galway
Irish Spring Water is supplied to many of the major
national multiples including Centra, Dunnes Stores,
Londis, Musgraves, SuperValu and Tesco.
Recent investment in the production facilities at Ballinfoile,
Headford Road, Galway has created one of the most modern
and highly automated production lines in Ireland.
A combination of Muvitec and Silverstream fillers, Arol
Cappers; Kosme Labellers; Dimac Shrink-wrappers; Keber
packers and Levati palletisers result in a highly adaptable
and modern production facilities capable of producing
a wide variety of glass and plastic (PET) forms in a
combination of crown, twist and sports caps.
